WHAT IS THE GIRLS ACADEMY?
The Girls Academy is the leading youth development platform for elite female soccer players in the United States. It offers a professional training environment, competitive league play, and a pathway to college and national team opportunities. The league focuses on developing the whole athlete — technically, tactically, and personally.
HISTORY OF THE GIRLS ACADEMY?
Formed in 2020, the Girls Academy was established by clubs seeking a player-first model after the U.S. Soccer Development Academy was dissolved. It was created to prioritize standards, community, and consistent national-level competition. Since its launch, the league has grown rapidly and is recognized nationwide for excellence.

VISION & UNIQUE APPROACH
The Girls Academy’s vision is to empower young women through elite soccer and leadership opportunities. It is the only national girls league led by its member clubs, with active player voices through the GA Advisory Panel. This player-centered approach makes it unlike any other league in the country.
CU AND THE GIRLS ACADEMY
Columbus United aims to help every player reach their potential both on and off the field. Our Girls Academy program provides the highest level of development and exposure in Ohio and beyond. We are committed to creating a competitive, inspiring environment that prepares players for the next level — college, pro, or national team.
GIRLS ACADEMY REGULAR SEASON
The season runs from late summer through spring, with clubs playing regional and national competition. Top-performing teams qualify for national playoffs and showcase events that draw college coaches and scouts. The structure supports development while providing high-stakes, meaningful matches.
